Mountain Boarding
Callus

Snow boarding with wheels or skate boarding with four wheel drive, mountain boarding combines the best.

Mountain Boarding is a relatively new sport and has only been around for the last ten years. It has grown considerably in the last five years; there are now many different board manufacturers and a considerable number of places to enjoy the sport.

The-Hill

At Cobbs Cross Activity Centre we have a hill roughly 800 meters long which can be described as a huge natural half pipe. It is one of, if not the longest, natural mountain board centre slopes in the country!

The sides have a number of tracks leading though long grass in to the ‘main’ slope. We have two nursery slopes which are used for teaching and for beginners. There is a slalom run and a number of different sized jumps for the more experienced riders.

The activity is usually run for one and a half hour sessions with a drinks break in the middle. The session starts with a safety briefing and introduction. The participants are then given pads and a board, then taken to one of the nursery slopes and taught how to start, stop and turn etc. Once the group has grasped the basics they are taken to the slalom where they work on their turning and speed control. Following this participants are given the opportunity to take on the ‘big slope’. It looks daunting, but at the bottom of the slope a land rover and trailer picks the group up and returns them to the top for another go.
